I’m sure many people know this cookie.
The recipe is many, many years old.
It is originally called “The Drowned”. I don’t like this name at all, we are going to bake Titanic cookies.
If you cut the rolls thinner, the cookies will be crisper..
If thicker, it will look like buns.
Before putting in the oven, you can grease the cookies with whipped protein and sugar..
From the specified amount of ingredients, about 25 pieces are obtained.
- 11 g dry or 100 g fresh yeast
- 200 g butter
- 5 eggs
- 600-700 g flour
- 150 g sugar in the dough + sugar for sprinkling
Mix yeast with 1 tsp. sugar and 5 tbsp. warm water.
Let the yeast rise well.
Grind butter with sugar.
Add suitable yeast.
Knead the dough.
Tie the dough in clean cheesecloth (the cheesecloth must be folded into 3 layers).
Dip the dough in gauze into cold water.
The dough should float (usually takes 1 hour).
When the dough comes up, remove it from the gauze.
Devide into two parts.
Roll each part into a circle.
Pour some sugar on each part of the rolled dough.
Roll the dough into a roll.
Cut the resulting roll into pieces 1–1.5 cm thick.
Line a baking sheet with baking paper or grease.
Lay out cookies.
Put in an oven preheated to 180 degrees.
Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Enjoy your meal!
